The photographs you already have, made into something you’ll watch together

Bodell Memory Studio turns a family’s photographs, home movies, and stories into things you can actually watch, share, and keep — films set to music, keepsakes you can hold, and digital copies that will outlive the shoebox.

They’re in shoeboxes, on phones, on tapes nothing will play, in albums nobody has opened in years. Somebody has to sit down and go through all of it, and that somebody never has the time.

You send what you have. We do the rest.

The kinds of memories this is for

  • A life remembered — for a memorial service or a celebration of life.

  • A family history, before the people who remember it aren’t here to tell it.

  • A milestone worth marking — an 80th birthday, a 50th anniversary, a retirement.

  • A wedding, a graduation, a new baby — the happy chapters, while they’re happening.

  • Photographs, tapes, and stories preserved, so they’re not stranded on media nothing can play.

Tribute films — two ways to do it

A tribute film for a memorial service or a celebration of life is one of the things we’re asked for most. Both packages include a proof to watch before anything is final, one round of revisions, and a memorial image you can share or print.

  • Essential Tribute — $199. A photo-based tribute, around two to four minutes: 25–50 photographs, one theme and one instrumental track (or no music at all), delivered as a 1080p video file.

  • Signature Tribute — $349. A fuller tribute with room for short video clips, around four to eight minutes: up to 100 photographs, up to three short clips, delivered as a 1080p video file.

The photo counts and lengths are guidance, not rules — if you have sixteen photographs, we work with sixteen photographs. Scanning printed photos is a separate service (below), so the price of a film is never padded with work you don’t need.

Keepsakes you can hold

Some memories want to be more than a file. Every keepsake starts with a proof you approve before anything is made.

  • Stainless-steel Memory Keepsake Card — $129. A pocket-sized steel card made from a photograph and design you approve.

  • Additional cards, same design — $59 each, once you’ve approved the first proof.

  • Premium Memory Plaque — starting at $199. Sized, finished, and priced by written quote once we’ve talked through what you want.

Nothing goes to production until you’ve seen and approved a proof.

Tapes to digital — VHS and VHS-C

Home movies on tape don’t last forever, and neither do the machines that play them. We transfer them to files you can watch anywhere and back up properly.

  • VHS or VHS-C to digital — $25 per tape.

  • 10 or more tapes — $20 per tape.

  • Every successful tape becomes one MP4 file, trimmed at the beginning and end, clearly named, delivered digitally — and your originals come back to you.

  • A blank or completely untransferable tape costs nothing.

Damaged, moldy, or jammed tapes, repairs, advanced editing, restoration, DVD copies, and unusual formats are quoted individually before any work starts. We don’t convert copy-protected commercial media — home movies only.

Photo scanning and restoration

Boxes of prints become organized digital photographs you can search, share, and never lose.

  • Standard scanning (clean, loose photos) — $1.50 per photo, $75 minimum.

  • Fragile, oversized, curled, damaged, or album-bound photos — $4 per photo, $150 minimum.

  • First tote or mixed-collection review and triage — $149. We go through what you have and decide what’s worth scanning before you commit to anything.

  • Basic restoration — $15 per selected photo. Advanced restoration — $35–$75 per photo, or a custom quote for the difficult ones.

  • Photos stuck together: assessment $149; a careful low-risk separation attempt, only with your explicit go-ahead, is $15 per photo with a $150 minimum.

Scanning and restoration are always their own service — never quietly included in a tribute film’s price — so you only ever pay for what you actually need.

Keeping it safe — preservation and add-ons

  • Legacy Media Preservation — $299 for up to 10 GB, organized and delivered as a proper digital archive. Additional capacity $100 per 25 GB.

  • Prepared USB drive — $29.

  • Rush service, when scheduling permits — $100.

  • An additional revision round on any film — $50.

How ordering works

Three kinds of pricing, so you always know where you stand before any work starts:

Whichever it is, you’ll always know the price before the work begins — the same promise as every Bodell Bytes visit.

See examples

The boards below are illustrative samples — designed previews our team created to show the kinds of things Memory Studio makes, from tribute films and keepsake cards to restored photographs and organized archives. They’re marked as samples because they aren’t customer work: your photographs and your story are what the real thing is made from. Ask and we’ll gladly walk you through what a finished piece looks like.

Start when you’re ready

Whichever is easier right now — there’s no wrong way to begin. Tell us about the person, the pile of photographs, or the box of tapes, and we’ll work out the rest together.
